The Nursing and Midwifery Service Directorate, in collaboration with the Drive for Health Foundation Ghana, has organized a one-week in-service training program for staff of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department.
The training focused on the identification and management of Hepatitis B and C during pregnancy, a critical area in maternal healthcare. Participants included nurses, doctors, midwives, pharmacists, nutritionists, and other cadres of staff who play vital roles in maternal and reproductive health services.
Director of Drive for Health, Mr. Damasus Suglo, served as the lead resource person. He took participants through best practices in diagnosing hepatitis in pregnant women and provided detailed strategies for effective clinical management to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the capacity of frontline health professionals and ensure they are well-equipped to handle hepatitis-related complications in pregnancy. Organizers expressed confidence that the training will significantly improve the quality of care offered to expectant mothers in the region.
