The Northern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has paid a courtesy call on the Management of Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) to deepen collaboration between the two key healthcare institutions.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. (Med) Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that will enhance healthcare delivery across northern Ghana. Dr. Bawah emphasized the importance of institutional synergy in improving access to quality care for the public.
The Northern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. (Med) Chrysantus Kubio, thanked the Management of TTH for the warm reception and expressed optimism about the potential of the renewed collaboration to yield significant benefits for health service delivery in the region.
The two institutions reviewed existing collaborative efforts and explored new areas of partnership aimed at boosting healthcare outcomes. A key highlight of the discussions was a pledge by TTH to extend specialist services to regional and district hospitals through outreach programmes.
According to the Director for Medical Affairs at TTH, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, these outreach activities will build the capacity of medical officers at lower-level facilities, enabling them to effectively manage cases that would otherwise be referred to the teaching hospital.
The delegation from the GHS also included the Tamale Metro Health Director and the Medical Superintendent of the Tamale Central Hospital.
Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening partnerships to ensure improved and more accessible healthcare services for the people of Northern Ghana.
