The Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS) has officially commenced its rollout at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). The rollout marks a significant milestone in restoring digital health information management within the facility.
The new system is designed to enhance efficiency in healthcare delivery by enabling seamless exchange of information between healthcare facilities nationwide.
Welcoming the National Rollout and Stabilization Team from the Ministry of Health at an entry meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of TTH, Dr. (Med.) Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, expressed delight at the hospital’s inclusion in the national rollout. He emphasized that the GHIMS is “very dear to the Tamale Teaching Hospital,” assuring the team of his personal commitment and the full cooperation of the hospital throughout the rollout process.
Dr. Bawah noted that the initiative aligns with Management’s vision of improving efficiency and service quality through technology-driven solutions.
Ahead of the system’s deployment, the team from the Ministry of Health engaged key stakeholders, including central Management, Sub-BMC managers, and unit heads, to discuss the implementation strategy for critical areas. On-site training sessions have also commenced for staff in selected departments and units.
The rollout of GHIMS at TTH demonstrates the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh’s commitment to strengthening quality healthcare delivery through digital transformation. The system is expected to promote efficiency, improve data accuracy, and ensure seamless healthcare service delivery within the hospital and beyond.
