NEWLY POSTED HOUSE OFFICERS RECEIVE ORIENTATION

Newly posted house officers have undergone an orientation programme. The programme aimed at equipping officers with the knowledge and skills required to effectively discharge their duties and integrate into the hospital's operations.

Welcoming the officers on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, the Director for Medical Affairs assured them of management's commitment to creating an enabling environment for them to practise and develop professionally. He encouraged the officers to carry out their responsibilities diligently and to adhere to established procedures in addressing any concerns that may arise.

The orientation programme featured presentations from members of the management team on various aspects of professional practice, administration and service delivery.

The Director of Administration, Emmanuel S.K. Donkor (PhD/Esq.), took participants through medicolegal issues, highlighting the importance of professionalism, ethics and legal compliance in healthcare practice.

The Director of Finance, Mr. Fuseini Issah, emphasised the need for proper documentation to facilitate accurate claims processing and payment, while the Deputy Director for Planning, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME), Mr. David Ahadze, provided participants with the history of the hospital and its code of conduct.

Speaking on corporate image and communication, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Zuberu Aliu, encouraged the house officers to uphold the hospital's reputation by adopting patient-centred communication and demonstrating professionalism in their interactions with patients and the public.

The Deputy Director of General Services, Mr. Kutuba Tido, outlined the responsibilities of the General Services Department and urged participants to cultivate responsible resource management practices, including switching off electrical appliances when leaving offices.

The Quality Manager, Mr. Michael Kwaku-Adusei Sanman, stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards across all levels of healthcare delivery. He noted that data quality, staff welfare, and patient and family satisfaction are among the key pillars of the Ghana Healthcare Quality Strategy 2024–2030.

Other speakers, including the Director of Pharmacy, Dr. Salifu Alhassan Tiah, Dr. (Med) Salimatu Asam Moro; and the Director of Allied Health, Dr. Yvonne Dzifa Quarshie, underscored the critical role of teamwork and collaboration in achieving quality patient outcomes.

The programme was facilitated by the Director of Human Resources, Mr. Abubakari Yakubu, and formed part of efforts to prepare the newly posted house officers for a successful and impactful stay in the hospital.
