Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has engaged traditional authorities and community members of some selected communities. The engagement is part of stakeholder consultations on TTH’s five-year strategic plan aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing healthcare delivery in Northern Ghana.
The engagement brought together officials of the hospital, traditional leaders, and community members to discuss key issues affecting healthcare service delivery, patient confidence, infrastructure, medical equipment, and the overall development of the hospital. The discussions also created an avenue for stakeholders to provide feedback and contribute ideas that will shape the hospital’s strategic direction over the next five years.
Staff of TTH used the platform to reaffirm the hospital’s commitment to delivering on its core mandate of providing quality tertiary healthcare services, conducting medical research, and training healthcare professionals. Management emphasised that the hospital remains focused on improving patient care and ensuring access to specialised health services for the people of Northern Ghana and beyond.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the hospital to address misconceptions surrounding some aspects of its operations, including delays at service points, patient experiences, and the need to strengthen interactions between clients and healthcare professionals. Representatives of the hospital appealed to the public to seek information about the hospital from authorised sources and avoid the circulation of misinformation. According to the staff, inaccurate information can discourage patients from seeking timely medical care, potentially affecting health outcomes and delaying treatment.
Participants commended the hospital for creating an open platform for dialogue and accountability. They encouraged management to continue engaging stakeholders and communities in efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen public confidence in the institution. Traditional authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting the growth and development of Tamale Teaching Hospital. They pledged to advocate for the hospital within their respective communities and collaborate with management to address challenges affecting healthcare delivery.
TTH remains committed to fostering collaboration with stakeholders, strengthening public trust, and advancing its mission of providing excellent healthcare, training, and research for the benefit of the people of Northern Ghana as it works toward implementing its five-year strategic plan.
