The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) is set to benefit from improved diagnostic and treatment services. This was announced at a meeting with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as MahamaCare.
A delegation from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, led by its Administrator Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, met with Management to assess the availability and condition of diagnostic equipment used in managing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Madam Obuobia announced that the visit was to assess gaps in service delivery and specialist training, adding that the priority of the Mahama Care’s for the year is to provide diagnostic equipment to key health facilities. She assured the hospital of the Government’s commitment to support TTH with essential medical equipment.
The Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, who represented the Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the hospital’s major equipment needs, including MRI and mammogram machines, and called for expansion of existing facilities such as the CT scan and dialysis units to meet growing patient demand.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin thanked the Government and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund for prioritizing TTH’s needs and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare.
The team from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund toured key departments, including the Dialysis Unit, Radiology Sub-BMC, and the Nelly Oncology Centre, to get firsthand insight into ongoing operations and challenges.
