Management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has procured an ultra-modern orthopaedic operating bed as part of efforts to improve the quality and volume of surgical services at the facility.
The new operating bed has been installed in one of the hospital’s orthopaedic theatres and is expected to enhance surgical procedures and improve outcomes for patients requiring orthopaedic care.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of TTH, Dr. Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, the Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, assured staff in the orthopaedic theatre of management's commitment to the continuous retooling of the hospital’s theatres.
He said the investment formed part of broader efforts to equip the hospital with appropriate medical infrastructure and equipment to support healthcare professionals in delivering quality care.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin also tasked the hospital’s Biomedical Engineering Unit to adhere strictly to the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule for the operating bed to ensure its optimal performance and prolong its lifespan.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Prof. Alexis Dunbo-Ib Buunaaim, who spoke on behalf of the orthopaedic team, expressed his appreciation to management for the intervention. He said the acquisition of the state-of-the-art operating bed would increase the number of orthopaedic surgeries the hospital could undertake while also contributing to improved quality and safety of surgical procedures.
The development is expected to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised orthopaedic services and improve access to surgical care for patients in the Northern sector and beyond.
